Hi everyone!!! I hope you guys had a nice weekend! I can’t believe it’s October already!! Where is time going!!? Well, guys, this month started my “no buy” lol-I literally LOL as I typed that because well, you know, I have issues with not buying anything for a long period of type 😩. We’ll see how that one goes, keep you guys updated! Anyway, I wanted to do a part two of my “Essentials” series. This one is probably more important to me than having any makeup, and I’ll tell you why (briefly)- I feel as a woman, a mom, as a stay at home mom we sometimes forget to take care of ourselves because we’re too busy caring for others or simply doing other things. I think everyone should always make time to do things that makes them feel good, that makes them feel like they’re taking care of themselves for a change, am I right? Let’s make a little list of items I feel are essential for self-care. *and remember, self-care is not selfish, it’s giving yourself a little reward for all you do for everyone else, I hope you feel like you deserve to make time for yourself, even if this means doing your nails at home or masking in your own bathroom, or whatever the case may be, just make a little time for yourself!!*
Ok, let’s dive in!
Perfume is one of those things that is versatile and you can have many choices of perfumes depending on your mood, but at the end of the day, even if you own just one, it always feels great when you spray it on, knowing how much you love the scent and how it makes you feel; something as little as this can improve your mood instantly. Personally I feel pretty, it almost feels like a cleansing feeling when I use perfume. Take a little trip to Sephora, get some samples!! Right now I am totally hooked on Dior’s Absolutely Blooming . This perfume smells so pretty and clean, I promise you you’ll feel like a flower when you wear it lol.
2. Dry Shampoo
Girls, boys, I know that this is probably silly, BUT I also know that sometimes life gets in the way and next thing you know you haven’t washed your hair in over a week (trust me been there #momlife). If you feel like a troll (lol-that’s how I feel sometimes) because you haven’t had time to wash the grease out of your hair, dry shampoo is your best friend. I mean it’s hard doing it all sometimes and time gets away from us, don’t have time to wash, dry and style your hair, get yourself some dry shampoo and keep it in your vanity! I personally don’t use it all the time, but if a week goes by and with my husband’s crazy work schedule it’s hard to even take a shower let alone wash my super long, thick hair, I spray a bit this product, it’s better than nothing! The one I use is this Batiste Original Clean Dry Shampoo.
3. Nail Polish
Ahh how I miss getting regular manis and pedis! I remember doing this every other week before I became a stay at home mom, but now with two kids under 5 years old, I truly have no time to go sit at a nail salon for 2 hours. So, with this being said, I know that sometimes we (at least I do) wished our nails could look at least presentable, even if not done professionally; so I actually take time here and there and do my own mani and pedi-as long as the kids are not awake, this task is easy peasy lol. Nail polish is one of those things that makes a woman look put together, I find myself always looking at other people’s nails (I know, weird lol). Nail polish makes your hands look delicate and simply beautiful. Whenever you feel you need a mani or pedi, but have no time to go to the nail salon, do it yourself! I always go for the light pinks and nudes because they look the most delicate! Essie is one of my favorite brands, but there are so many other brands at the drugstore, also cheaper! Give yourself and mani and pedi, you won’t regret it!
4. Body Scrub
Nothing feels more luxurious than a nicely scented body scrub, even if it’s not an overpriced one!! When I do this I feel like I just came out of a full body massage lol (see told you, weird!). I mean when you use a body scrub you’re literally exfoliating your body and you come out of that shower with your skin feeling as soft as a baby’s bottom- best feeling ever! I love doing this at least 2-3 times a week and I know I probably don’t need to do it this often, but it’s just so relaxing and feels so amazing. I love this body scrub, I think you should try it out too, it is absolutely amazing!! And smell delicious!!
Yup. You read that right! Lotion! As weird as that sounds, ever gone a day without applying lotion on your body and felt like your skin felt tight? lol or how many times have you rushed through a shower (especially if you’re a mom with little ones) and didn’t have time to lotion up!? I know I have! It’s a weird feeling and kind of hard to describe, but I find applying lotion is such a therapeutic task (for lack of a better term lol). I mean you stand there and methodically apply it on your entire body, it’s the best feeling in the world lol-and not to mention, it’s important moisturize your body after you shower! I love lotions with a little scent in it, but mostly use a regular non-scented one because I have mild eczema and need that extra moisture in order to keep any random breakouts away! I recommend the Cetaphil RestoraDerm Eczema Calming Body Moisturizer. This one is amazing, even if you don’t have eczema!
Ok my loves, these are some the products I feel are essential for a little R&R. There are so many other ways to practice self-care I think I could keep writing about this, but then the post will never be done lol. But always remember, Self-care is not selfishness, self-care is necessary for your general health, your mental health and to keep you sane :-). I hope you like and find this post helpful!
