Hi everyone!! I hope you’re all having a great week! Guys, I have placed myself on a no buy for the next month 😂. It’s hysterical because I say that every month and then give in! 😩. Anyone else goes through this!? 🤦🏻♀️ Anyhow, because I will be on a no buy, I thought it would be a great idea to narrow down a few makeup items I think every woman needs without having to buy something new every time a new launch happens lol (story of my life 🤦🏻♀️). Oh and also before I move on, this will be a three part mini “essentials” series, so stay tuned for the next post. 🤗
Let’s jump right in!
1. Foundation/BB cream/CC cream
Ladies, I know and totally understand that some people don’t like to wear makeup, and if you don’t want to use foundation, a BB/CC cream works just as well! A little cover up never hurt nobody 😏. I think foundation or BB/ CC cream makes such a difference, personally I love the Bhcosmetics Illuminating BB cream, (see this post for more info on it) it has a beautiful finish and it literally looks like you have nothing on, just a natural glow. If you’re looking for an affordable foundation, see this post. Or you can always splurge on a tinted moisturizer, I’ve tried the Laura Mercier and really liked it.
You can’t go wrong with concealer, I mean you can literally wear concealer on your whole face (contour, highlight, spot conceal). It may seem like a ton of work to apply and blend, but trust me when you feel like you need a little bit of brightening to your face, rely on your concealer. You know what I’m going to recommend right? 😏 Tarte’s Shape Tape! But if you’re looking for affordable concealer, see my drugstore suggestion here.
Blush is probably one of the most used beauty/makeup products and rightfully so! I mean when you have zero time for anything, you put on a little blush and you instantly get such a healthy, pretty glow to your face! I’ve been hooked on Mac’s sheertone blush in shade Pinch Me (thanks sis for putting me on to this!). This is the prettiest blush I have ever owned! But if you’re looking for a more affordable choice, I recommend this one from my affordables post.
This is another product that will not leave you disappointed! Personally I feel like you can never go wrong here. Having beautiful volume on your lashes always helps open up your eyes, give you an instant lift to the face. Recently I have been obsessed with the Covergirl Total Tease Mascara! You get volume and length with this one! I have a few that I love and go back and forth with, but this one is my number one right now.
Ok, so I have tons of lipsticks (liquid lipsticks lol). You probably don’t need a hundred, but if you want to keep your “stash” small, I think you should always have a red, a pinkish and a nude lipstick. Lipstick, just like blush, simply lightens up your face and not to mention, I think lipstick is just sexy lol (I know I’m such a weirdo). I don’t look great in nude lipsticks, but I like to mix it with a pink and it always looks so perfect. For nude, I’m loving the Maybelline Matte Ink liquid lipsticks as well as for the pink (see this post). For red, my favorite is this Colourpop liquid lipstick.
Bronzer is such an easy and fast way to give your face some dimension. I love the way my face looks after applying bronzer. I like applying it in the hollows of my cheeks for a little contouring, forehead, nose, jaw line. You instantly look sun kissed without having to sit in the sun or a tanning bed for hours lol. I have two favorites, the affordable one is the Colourpop x Alexis Ren bronzer/highlight duo and the more high end one is the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Bronzer. Don’t sleep on bronzer boys and girls lol, your Summer glow can last all year long if you so choose!
7. Brow gel or Brow Pencil. You can’t forget your eyebrows. Filling in your brows will instantly enhance their shape and color. If you don’t like using a brow pencil you can always use a clear brow gel to keep them neatly tamed. My go to brow pencil is the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz as well as their clear brow gel.
Eyeliner will enhance the size of your eyes. Using a dark liner will make your eyes appear larger, if that’s something you’re looking for. For a more awake look, try white/nude liner. This will open up your eyes giving you that awake look on days you’re feeling exhausted! My go to dark liner is the Anastasia Beverly Hills Darkside Waterproof Liner. For whites, I like the NYX Faux Whites and the Tarte Inner Rim Liner .
Aaahhhh I bet every beauty/makeup lover has a huge eyeshadow stash (I know I do lol). But you don’t have to have tons if you don’t want to! Grab a palette with mixed shades that will give you the liberty of making different looks if that’s something you’re into. If you want a basic, 1, 2, 3 eyeshadow done, you can get one of the mini sized shadows with neutral shades. I personally love the Morphe shadow palettes, they are inexpensive and have a great variety of colors, check out their site for all the great options. Remember eyeshadow, just like liner, enhances your eyes, so a little shadow can do so much!!
10. Last, but not least, makeup wipes!
We all know how important it is to fully remove makeup before going to bed! Wipes are a great tool especially if you, say, don’t feel like doing a whole skincare routine after a long night, just grab a few wipes and you’re at least removing a layer of your products. My go to is the Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes- Night Calming (that’s a mouthful!). These do a great job at removing your makeup without feeling too rough on your skin AND they’re very affordable!
Ok my loves! This is what I have for this part one of my “Essentials” mini series. I hope you guys like it and find it helpful.
